Version: yDecode 1.22
Pros: Program worked well as a plug in for Outlook Express. It decoded Yencoded files as described. It runs in the background and decodes binary attachments.
Cons: What they didn't tell you is that "Some features disabled" means that it will only allow you to download and decode "parts" of multi-part attachments. Imagine trying to download a full CD of a local band that is promoting their free cd (right...) and you learn that only some of the parts of some of the tracks were actually downloaded. Those that were "decoded" are now ".mp3" therefore cannot be manually joined together with another program. I almost considered buying it until I thought about the shareware limitations and the fact that they weren't disclosed up front. Uninstalled.

Version: yDecode 1.22
Pros: It's pretty to look at.
Cons: It's very expensive.
yDecode is crippled shareware.
It's not yEnc compliant and is very slow.
It's very limited and difficult to use.
There are cheaper (and free) alternatives.

Version: yDecode 1.22
"An essential part of the entire downloading program."
Pros: Bug free. Self operating. Truly uncomplicated.
Cons: Sometimes Companies advertise a program as "FREE" but are really Shareware and then crunch you for that $30.00 buy.

Version: yDecode 1.22
Pros: I've tested various yEnc decoding software for Outlook Express and this is the best one I found so far (and very easy to use, indeed). It works well for downloading newsgroups pictures.
Cons: If you use something other than Outlook Express automatic configuration will not work - you have to configure it manually then.
