Now that introspective bands like Mogwai play to stadium-size crowds (when opening for The Cure), the "arena rock" genre has become somewhat less defined. Maybe underground shoe-gazers like The Caseworker are the new arena rock? OK, maybe not, just a thought.
[the] caseworker formed in 2003. we taped an lp called 'These Weeks Should Be Remembered'. it came out on Manifesto in September 2003. Monte produced it and Sean Kirkpatrick played the drums. Eimer and Conor did everything else.we never planned on being a live band but we developed into one in 2004 when we decided to do a few shows. that's when Will joined us on drums and Monte played guitar. in 2004 we didn't do too much except tape the soundtrack to an indie movie called 'East Of Sunset' it came out in 2005 but you've got to buy the movie to get it. it's all covers of Tom Waits songs from the early 1970's and it's also on Manifesto. in 2005 we taped another lp and signed to Pehr in Los Angeles. they put out 'When I Was A Young King' for us in August. we also toured the US for the first time that summer and Geoff Diesel took over the guitar playing. right now we're rehearsing new songs and doing the odd show or two over the winter on the west coast of the US. another lp should come out in 2007.
