Editor's review

Take one jazz ensemble performance, dice finely, add a bit of dirt and a few heavy breaks, and you have an idea what to expect from this Taiwanese-American DJ. While some songs possess an intentionally mechanical feel, Panakronic knows how to maintain a funky hiccup in his beats to balance things out.

Biography

Panakronic is a Vancouver based producer/turntablist. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Panakronic moved to North America at age of 10. Handicaped by the language barrier, music (rap/hip hop) has quickly become one of the tool for him to communicate with his peers. At age of 16, Panakronic started making mixtapes and remixes using various primitive ways such as shorting out a dual-cassette tape player in order to mix. At age of 17, Panakronic hosted a radio show in a small community radio station. Inspired by the guest djs who brought their turntables into his show and mixed in front of audience live, Panakronic decided that djing is his calling. At age of 22, bored and frustrated by the overly saturated dj scene, Panakronic focused his energy to music production. At age of 24, Panakronic opened up Phonologic Laboratory, a work space originally intended to serve as a dj learning center. Over the next two years the business has slowly developed into a production studio with vocal recording and editing service. Please check out www.phonologic-lab.com for more details.
