Fans of baby-faced British acts as disparate as the Arctic Monkeys and Lily Allen will see much they recognize in Penate's London. The 22-year-old lives in a world of cold lasses he can't help but adore, and his chipper pop response--with lines like "I act stupid due to Cupid"--is disarming.
In the last eight months, 22-year old Londoner Jack Peñate (pronounced Pen-ya-te) has made quite a name for himself. No shirker, he’s done most of the hard work himself by regularly posting songs online and playing feverish live sets all over the UK resulting in him firmly positioning himself at the very forefront of the new wave of British musicians.
Word of mouth has spread far and wide – he’s all over the internet, recently featured in the Babyshambles & Friends video, has supported Larrikin Love, Jamie T and Lily Allen and already appeared in UK magazines, NME, Dazed & Confused, i-D, Dummy and Another Man - not bad for someone who hasn’t even released a record!
Jack will finally officially meet the world with his impressive and unbelievable catchy single “Second, Minute or Hour” b/w “Got My Favorite”, via the burgeoning new label, Young Turks (the label born out of the eminent London club night of the same name and a new XL Recordings imprint).
Jack is in the studio recording his debut album and will make his US debut in Austin at SXSW – supporting labelmates RJD2 and Elvis Perkins and will then tour the UK with The Maccabees, seemingly playing every town in the UK during March and April.
