Rhapsody.com is a web-based version of Real's digital music service that offers consumers a free and legal way to find, play, and share full length songs or albums from a deep catalog that includes all major labels. Any consumer can stream up to 25 on-demand songs per month. A free downloadable music player allows you to find play and share more than two million songs online, any time.

Note: Beta or prerelease software is not intended for inexperienced users, as the software may contain bugs or potentially damage your system. We strongly recommend that users exercise caution and save all mission-critical data before installing and/or using this software.

  Slick features with growing pains...

  Pros: The interface is very simple. There are many options which help to taylor music to your taste. The list of music is fairly extensive and the sound quality is CD-like in nature.

  Cons: Bugs are a problem. It isn't playing well with IE7 yet although it is usable. You will find yourself "toggling" a border so that a slider bar will appear; the same goes for the forward and back arrows. Comcast offers Rhapsody service where each song costs $0.89 to buy but you can only download in WMA, RA10, and the dreaded MP3. Since I don't own an IPod, I would rather be able to download to FLAC, Monkey's Audio or some other more flexible format. RA10 is NOT usable on WinAmp, which is my player of choice.

  #1 music service only because it lacks competition

  Pros: Has quite a bit of music.

  Cons: 1. I just used the My Rhapsody Channel feature, supposedly based on my play history, my library, and my selected genres, for first time... the first and sixth "songs" were Malcom X speech/rants. I would no more listen to Malcom X by choice than a KKK speech!!!!

  2. Also, custom channels only let you select artists, but not genre --- I am a Christian who is very sick of Christmas music in summer and I pitty the non-Christian users of this program.

  3. And, one would expect that if I rate a song with the "don't play" that I wouldn't have to listen to it ever again... nope! Some perverse little *** programer seems to think that it means "thank you sir, please, may I have some more music I can't stand?"!!

  4. There is no "adult alternative" genre.

  Pros: I like because is easy to use and i need it to my sansa mp3 player.
