This easy-to-use software secures your files, e-mails, instant messages, and backup data with strong encryption and a digital signature. The software is integrated with the Windows shell; creates its own X.509 digital certificates; signs and encrypts files, folders, and e-mails; verifies digital signatures; wipes files, folders, and free disk space; secures instant messages; creates and extractes certificate-protected archive files, password-protected self-extracting archive files, and regular ZIP files; and has a secure text editor. Many e-mail clients are supported, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, Juno Mail, Lycos Mail, and Eudora. Also, e-mail-content formats including text, RTF, and HTML are supported.

Despite a few minor complaints, this small but powerful encryption utility provides a good amount of security and some handy features. Before you can use iSafeguard Professional, you must choose a password, create a certificate, and pick the level of security you'd like to use. Once we got the application up and running, we were glad to learn that most major actions can be performed via a simple right-click, though we wish the program had more of an actual interface for configuring its settings. We also were miffed to learn the stubborn nag screen that bugs you to register can't be banished until you log out of the program. iSafeguard Professional provides several secure algorithms for locking down and deleting files and folders, as well as a tool for securely wiping free disk space. You also can pack encrypted files into a self-executable archive so your recipient can access them without installing the program. If you're seeking a reliable encryption protection, this program is up to the task.
