Publisher's description of iComment Button for Internet Explorer & Firefox
iComment turns the entire Internet into a huge bulletin board forum and social network. Each day huge numbers of people use the iComment button to read and post their opinions, viewpoints, ideas, thoughts, advice and experiences. iComment is a revolutionary free patent pending service based on a single button, not a bulky toolbar, that enables you to read and write comments about web pages as you surf the web. Simply click the button to turn it on, and you can read other's comments or add your own. Comments appear as little minimized note icons that reside all the way to the right of your browser's window pane. Our goal is not to cover up valuable web content or waste your valuable time. That's why our note icons only appear when there is a comment. And by hovering your mouse pointer over the minimized comment icon you can quickly see what the comment is about and decide if you want to click on it and maximize it. As you surf the web you'll meet other icommenters and make friends.

This free plug-in adds yet another facet to the social-networking craze by letting you publish comments while you browse. But stability issues and lack of user participation take most of the fun out of this freeware.
iComment Button for Internet Explorer & Firefox places shortcut buttons on your IE and Firefox toolbars. Clicking on the button activates the program and lets you comment on a particular Web page, selected text, or picture. It also reveals other users comments as tags on the right side of the browser window. The settings options let you change your profile name, and add your favorite links so that they appear with your profile. As we browsed, we noticed that user comments were few and far between. The few user comments that we came across were outdated. Still, we were able to add our own comment very easily, even if no one was there to read it.
On several occasions, the program caused IE to stop working, although it proved to be more stable with Firefox. This program might be more fun if it had more users. But we didn't want to stick around to find out, and you probably won't want to either.

"Shame on any company that submits reviews on their own products."
Pros: I won't download anything when the company writes favorable reviews of their own product. They think we are so stupid that we won't spot it.
Cons: I absolutely hate it when companies stuff the ballot box by writing favorable reviews of their own product. In this case they made so many mistakes. Some companies really do a good job stuffing the ballot box, but these guys did a lousy job.
For starters, at the time of the writing of this review, this product has less than 100 downloads and 7 comments. I did some looking around and typically products on download.com have 1 comment for somewhere between every 1000 and every 10000 downloads. I saw one product on download.com that had over 500,000 downloads and only 7 comments.
Ask yourself how likely it is that 7 people out of 100 would have commented on this product (almost all very favorable, by the way) when another product gets 7 comments out of 500,000 downloads.

Pros: I love the idea of commenting on the sites I visit
Cons: I have found in the short time I have been using icomment that it can bring my surfing to a crawl forcing me to disable the add-on and wait for the bugs to be worked out because I believe the problem stems from there server

"
Nice Program, badly needed, working fast for me"Pros: Love the ability to write comments on any web page and communicate with other people that way. A lot of the pages don't let you speak/squak out. Bushi.. I'm not experiencing any slowdown. Maybe they increased their server power. LOOKING GOOD ICOMMENT! Give us more!
Cons: Needs a lot of users... I hope everyone gets in on this so there is a true way to tell what's up on a website.
