Publisher's description of Stuffit Standard Edition (Classic)
From Allume Systems:StuffIt Standard combines all four of Aladdin's award-winning drag-and-drop access and compression utilities into one convenient package. The StuffIt Standard shareware package includes StuffIt Expander, DropStuff, DropZip, and DropTar. StuffIt Expander gives you quick and easy access to virtually any file, Internet download, or e-mail attachment. Expander is easy to use--just drag, drop, and you're done. DropStuff compresses your files and folders up to 98 percent smaller than their original size, so they transmit faster over the Internet, networks, or via e-mail. DropStuff includes support for the new StuffIt X (.sitx) file format.
StuffIt X offers strong (512-bit) encryption, error correction, and improved compression. For those times when you need to send a zip-compressed file to a PC user, use DropZip. DropTar allows you to create tar-compressed files for transmission to Unix machines.

Version: Stuffit Standard Edition (Classic) 7.0.3
Pros: Stuffit Expander is *THE* standard compression/decompression software on the Mac platform, and has been around for years. If you have a Mac, you NEED this software...
Cons: The version available for download here is in .SIT format (compressed with Stuffit). My new Powermac G5 doesn't have any Stuffit decompression software on it... now, I'm trying to download Stuffit Expander to use on my Powermac, but the Stuffit software available requires that you already have Stuffit software on your computer. Discounting upgrades, how in the heck can *THAT* work?! I mean, if I had it, I wouldn't be downloading it. Since I don't have it, how can I use it to decompress itself? :-)
