Version: esPOS 2.2
Pros: This is an inexpensive POS system, that in the registered version can run up to 5 clients. Realy great at the price. The Layout is easy to use.
We use it in our shops in Denmark, and it works.
The 13 digit barcode make it possible to use EAN13, but you can't use the build in label printing software for making EAN13 labels only UPC.
However such a barcode label software you can get on download.com for around 50$.
Most importantly great support team, they work fast, and they will make costum changes for you at a fair price.
Cons: For more permanet shops ESpos/Pro do still have some cons:
The current version do not have a relation between vendor and P/N, which makes it impossible to handle 50 vendors and 2400 P/N that you find even in a small permanet shop.
This problem you can naturally overcome by keeping a seperate database with a relation between vendors and P/N, but it is time consuming.
Credit card payments, needs a major improvement. You can only accept payments on the amount, not above the amount, and pay cash back, without having problems in the system, with the balance of your cash register - This is a major design flaw - That needs to be fixed in the next version.
Discounts can only be deducted by changing each sales price on the P/N. level.
General sales 20% off, has to be made with a calculator at hand and punch in the discount on the store front manually.
Mass downloads from cordless barcode scanners, when you make the inventory or re-ordering, is also still missing.
However at 15$ You can't expect to get a 800$ software. This software is very good at the price, but do still miss some of the functionality, of more expensive products.
The design team is working on changing the design flaws and bugs - so in the next "of the shelf version" You should really expect something great from ettasoft.

Version: esPOS 2.2
Summary: UPC Barcodes are 12 digits, this includes the check digit, this program requires 13 digits!? Not a valid UPC-A Code. All other features look great for a start-up biz thats not looking to spend alot of money.
