Publisher's description of eMule

eMule is one of the biggest and most reliable peer-to-peer file sharing clients around the world. Thanks to it's open source policy many developers are able to contribute to the project, making the network more efficient with each release. eMule is a filesharing client which is based on the eDonkey2000 network, but offers more features than the standard eDonkey client.

Changes in v0.49a include major Kad protocol improvements, like kad obfuscation, better NAT handling, direct callbacks, flood protections; several changes to the message system to get rid of spammers and stay in touch with friends with dynamic IP; several GUI improvements like storing searches between eMule sessions, a searchfilter for shared files and easier access to the comment filter.

  Isn't eMule one of those malicious P2P programs like Kazaa?

  Cons: eDonkey, is said to host a lot of malicious programs. There are a lot of better P2P programs out there. LimeWire, being one of them are much safer eventhough there is viruses in the download. But LimeWire isn't as bad as eMule. Please find a better alternative.

  Too slow.

  Pros: No adware or malware. Easy to install and use. There's a built in ip filter.

  Cons: Long queue times. It could take hours or days for a download to start, or it may never start at all. Slow download speeds for the few files that work. I only installed this because I heard you can get rare files with this, but actually, only files with hundreds of sources will download.

  No protection against VIRUS..

  Pros: eMule finda a lot of mp3s, viedos etc.

  Cons: BUT

  it has no protectiona against virues.

  Do not install it !

  No, eMule is NOT malicious, IT IS OPEN SOURCE, and not just for P2P, it's for file sharing as well, for torrents. It is more comparable to torrents than limewire.

  Pros: I LOVE that this program is easy to use and OPEN SOURCE! Broken Butterfly does not know what she is talking about, as she is a novice user and only a teenager!
