From Kallout:

KallOut brings "selection-based search" to any Web page, e-mail message, presentation, document, spreadsheet, or PDF file. Unlike other search methods that are trapped inside the browser, KallOut serves up content from the most popular sites on the Web inside floating information palettes (which we call KallOuts). Using only your mouse, you can now avoid the disruption of launching a browser and let KallOut bring you the best the Web has to offer.

KallOut is designed to seamlessly integrate into the everyday tools you already use. There is no learning curve. Instead of copying text and then pasting it into a browser whenever you want more information, you just select text and KallOut does the rest. Version 0.9.3 adds any search site to KallOut, Technorati KallOut added to Search category.

"Get Web content without a browser"

KallOut's beta shows great potential for being the kind of unobtrusive, time-saving application we love. With two quick clicks, it turns text selections from a variety of Microsoft Office applications into search terms for a wide range of Web sites. In this way, selecting an unfamiliar term can populate a background search from Wikipedia or The New York Times, or find book titles or videos. It could help you quickly map a location or dig up public photos--all without opening a browser. Instead, KallOut delivers Web content to your application in a, well, call-out.

This goes for IE and Firefox browsers as well, where clicking on KallOut can launch a lookup within your tab and save you having to open up a new one. KallOut is so far off to a good start, but we'll keep a close eye on what comes next.

Pros: Very fast to locate anything you desired,a must for busy lifestyles and education across all age groups.

Cons: none.

Version: KallOut Beta 0.9.3

"I like its speed, simplicity and convenience"

Pros: Clean minimal windows and capable of full size, and convenient. The speed is a knockout

Cons: When I first downloaded and started using kallOut,
I was disturbed that while I was trying to download AVG 8.0, I found I had 2 worms, attached to KallOut and the uninstall program. I don't think it will happen now.
