Despite a few misses, Zappit System Cleaner improves your system performance by eradicating space-hogging obsolete files and files that may endanger your privacy. The Windows XP-inspired interface has a safe deletion mode for less experienced users and an advanced mode with features for customizing cleanups. Like most competing applications in its class, Zappit removes traces from Windows system areas including the Recycle Bin, the Clipboard, temp folders, and the Recent Documents list. We're impressed by how well it eradicates Web-surfing traces from IE, Mozilla, Opera, Netscape, and Firefox. However, cleaning traces from third-party applications is narrowly focused on only a few programs. The cleaning process is fast and accurate, and we like that Zappit automatically creates a restore point before cleaning. You can easily schedule cleaning tasks to operate when you're away. Oddly, it doesn't include a secured file shredder, a common feature in cleaning programs. Novice users will appreciate the few handy wizards for managing start-up programs and Internet favorites. This free program helps keep your computer healthy and is a good addition to your toolset.

  "Works better in the advanced mode."

  Pros: Zappit has two cleaning modes safe mode and advanced mode. In the advanced mode it has more options for cleaning.

  Click the plus beside windows tracks and select what you want to clean. It will clean the recycle bin, clipboard, temp files, recent documents, search history, run history and more.

  Click the plus beside internet tracks, and click the plus beside the browser you use. And select what needs to be cleaned, temporary internet files, typed URLs, history, auto complete forms, offline web pages cookies and more.

  Click the plus beside program files and select what needs to be cleaned. It will clean windows media player, MS Paint, ACD See, Adobe acrobat reader, Adobe photoshop, Google toolbar and more.

  And it has a favorites manager so you can sort favorites alphabetically. Organize favorites manually and sort windows start menu alphabetically. And you can schedule automatic cleaning at what time you choose.

  Cons: Any items you choose to clean requires you to restart your computer.

  "got rid of junk"

  Pros: this little program works vey well got rid of loads of junk it is free but it will take alot for me to replace ccleaner with this promgram close second to ccleaner which is also free..

  Cons: none as yet..

  Version: Zappit System Cleaner 1.11

  "A great cleaner!"

  Pros: A neat looking GUI makes this a cool little program. You can schedule the program to clean your system on a daily basis, which is a plus! Has a Safe Mode, and a Advanced Mode for experienced users. A great cleaner for free! Scans are usually fast, and so is the cleaning process. It's also light on resources. Creates an automatic system restore point before scanning.

  Cons: I wish it showed you a detailed list of what's being cleaned like CCleaner does. It advises you to restart your computer to fully delete all items that it cleans. Overall a 4/5.
