Yahoo Messenger for Vista beta is a free service that allows you to see when friends come online and to send them instant messages. It also can alert you to new e-mail in your Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Personals accounts, or when you have upcoming events recorded in your Yahoo Calendar. Yahoo Messenger for Vista offers firewall support, a standby mode that minimizes the program until an Internet connection is made, the ability to save and print your conversations, and a tabbed interface that provides quick access to your favorite stocks, news, and sports scores.

Other features in the version include computer-to-computer calls as well as calls to and from phones, vector-based graphics for better independence from variable monitor pixel sizes; a Windows Sidebar gadget version; integration with Yahoo address book; integration with Flickr for photo sharing; the ability to view videos and photos sent as Web page links in the chat window; customizable skins; tabbed conversations to cut down on window clutter. This is the first version of Yahoo Messenger for Vista on CNET Download.com.

  Pros: this is good service and i like this very much

  Cons: the chatroom in this version is delete and i don't like it.

  Yahoo Messenger for Vista

  A little basic

  Pros: The GUI looks good for a start. But it's still a little basic. Still, the best looking Yahoo Messenger I've seen.

  The menus certainly are different. They are all arranged different and pop out and look a little fancier but I like it..

  The whole program has an Adobe Flash or possible an Adobe Air feel to it which I don't mind. It gives the GUI a smoother, cleaner look and feel.

  It still needs much improvement before I can give it a full proper review.

  I'll continue to use it though just because I like how it looks.

  Cons: I don't like that it automatically adds the widget to the Vista sidebar. Also, the widget only allows you to keep track on ONE contact.

  I think if they'd change the widget to be, basically, a mini Yahoo Messenger that you could use from the sidebar I'd be much happier.

  It still needs much improvement before I can give it a full proper review.

  I'll continue to use it though just because I like how it looks.

  Looks nice but needs work...

  Pros: Nice Colors and more user friendly this time. Looks as up to date as a new version of the Iphone...

  Cons: Still very slow even on a new PC and still no webcam or chat features... Yahoo should have at the least added webcam before releasing a slow beta. Yahoo should understand that when you are using an IM client it needs to be fast like having a conversation...

  Pros: Fantastic Looks, Smooth Graphics, Great GUI !

  Cons: Voice Clarity is bad when compared to G Talk.
