Xdrive gives you 5GB of Free secure online storage to protect, manage, and access your photos, music, and videos from anywhere. This desktop software integrates seamlessly with your computer--just like an external hard drive--allowing convenient access to your important files on Xdrive. Quickly transfer large files and entire folders using drag and drop from your PC. Or schedule automated backups to ensure you always have the latest version of your files available. Enhancements include an improved backup interface, performance tuning for faster uploading, seamless authentication with AOL/AIM software and services. Get 5GB free. Need more space? You can always upgrade to get more.
Version 5.1.155 includes a new AutoCopy feature that allows you to automatically copy your music and photos with Xdrive. And, XDrive Shows is now available on the Xdrive Web site, so you can create shows with your pictures and music to share with your friends and family.

- "Easy and free online storage"
XDrive lets you create an online hard drive to store music, documents, or other files and then access that drive from any computer. Once XDrive is installed and you've registered for your free AOL account, you can manage your 5GB online drive by launching XDrive Desktop, clicking the XDrive tab, and then clicking Connect.
Once connected, you can see your backup files by clicking the Show Drive button or navigating to My Computer in Windows Explorer and double-clicking the XDrive icon. A default file hierarchy includes sample folders like My Music and My Pictures, but we created new directories as easily as in Windows Explorer. The desktop client comes with an intuitive, skinnable interface that lets you quickly back up folders by checking appropriate boxes and hitting the Now button, and you can just as easily create an ongoing backup schedule.
One of the best features of XDrive is online accessibility. Sign in at XDrive.com and choose "Click to Launch" to view the contents of your online drive. You also can share folders with other XDrive users. A new feature in version 5.1.155--called XDrive Shows--lets you easily create slide shows with your own photos and music.
The free version offers 5GB of space. For a fee, you can add up to 50GB of space. The "loopback adapter" section of the installation was slow, and AOL Services tried to stick itself in our start-up, but the interface was great and we had no trouble managing files and folders from the desktop client or online drive. Sharing folders and files requires target users to sign up for their own XDrive accounts, but if users value the service, registration seems worthwhile. We think XDrive Desktop is an excellent method of storing files online.

Pros: nothing, this thing doesnt work
Cons: just to install this app, it made me restart computer 3 times and after it wont even connect saying my username and password are wrong.
MY question to AOL is why cant they hire profesionals that ccan actually deliver an application that works. another question why most powerful and rich corporations produce crappiest applications and even worse why everyone tries to use them.
then they complain when Google sweeps customers away.

"Useful software but has some bugs"
Pros: Software allows 5gb free storage - this is enough to back up all my documents, pictures and some of my music files securely. It runs automatically at my chosen frequency so that in the event of catastrophic PC failure I have a backup of the most important files. I also try to backup regularly to DVD but often forget so its great to know that I have Xdrive
Cons: Upload is slow, it must have taken a dozen attempts to do my first full backup. Now I only backup the new files and that runs in the background in a matter of minutes. Online Xdrive application is infuriatingly slow - reminds me of dialup

Pros: 5GB of online storage, gives you a network drive on your computer, accessable from anywhere. Gives you visual representation of how much space is used.
Cons: Software has problems (online version is great). It was kind of buggy.

"Tried to get Xdrive Desktop to work, and tried and tried."
Pros: Online backup works fine.
Cons: Desktop is a big pain. I installed Gmail Drive in no time and the drag/drop works great. This thing won't even let me sign in - tells me password/username is wrong. Also weak support. Hard for me to understand why AOL would create such a frustrating experience.
