Publisher's description of MainType
This font manager has all the tools you need to take control of your fonts. It includes advanced features for graphic designers and typographers as well as basic features for users who just want to view and install fonts. The software provides immediate system-wide font synchronization, with no need to refresh font lists or reboot the computer after installing fonts. MainType works with TrueType, OpenType, TrueType Collections, Postscript Type 1, vector and raster fonts. You can preview and browse fonts on any drive, before installing them. MainType supports all seventeen planes defined in the Unicode character database and displays all characters grouped in Unicode blocks. MainType allows you to generate an HTML-based overview of any of your fonts, print outstanding reports and export font information to clipboard and text. Nice touches are drag and drop support and the ability to insert characters into background applications.
Version 2.1.1 allows to install or uninstall a font by double-clicking it.

Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros: I like it's ease of use. I've been using tons of trial font management software, & honestly, I haven't used one that I liked until I tried MainType. It's just super easy, & has lots of options. I downloaded the trial & within 30 minutes had all of my 2000 fonts organized, loaded/unloaded & categorized!! Now my computer runs so much faster with only 35 fonts loaded and my other favorites ready to be used at a click.
Cons: The price. Once trial is over, as much as I love this program, I still don't know if I'm going to be willing to fork over 49.00US for it. I mean it's great, but it's not worth that kind of money. I'd have no qualms paying 19.99. They should run a 19.99 promo; bet they'd sell a LOT.

"The only one doing what you want it to"
Pros: I'm a graphic designer, using both Mac and PC in my work, and I want it any other way. This is certainly not intended as a PC-bashing comment, but font handling is the area where Windows always has come up short. It has simply been a lack of good software - no lack of software, but of GOOD font handling software. Even commercial products that exists on both platforms run less smoothly and causes more problems on windows. I cannot see the reason why?!
Well, not so much anymore. This is the first font handling software for Windows that I've used (and I think I've tried them all), that actually does what you want it to - without screwing up your operating system.
Cons: It takes a bit of getting used to, but that's no big problem. If I could wish for one thing, that would be a faster loading of fonts in groups. I have quite large font groups and when I choose one, it takes a while for it to load (not as in activating, but just listing them) all fonts in the list.

"Lots of features but chose X-Fonter instead."
Pros: Many useful features.
Cons: I've tried a number of trial font managers recently and narrowed it to X-Fonter and Main Type. They have very similar features but as I worked with both of them, I definitely felt more comfortable with X-Fonter's interface. Main Type's price also seems a little steep.
