- "Take Linux on a test run"
This app is one of the easiest ways to add Ubuntu to your Windows system. Wubi's dialog interface requires users to select a mere six options to install the Linux OS. Don't expect help with this utility. Users are expected to have a basic understanding of Linux and booting into alternate operating systems.
Selecting the install drive, hard-drive space, language, username, and password is quick with pull-down selectors. The most difficult decision is choosing the environment from Ubuntu, Kbuntu, Xubuntu, and UbuntuStudio. Users are expected to know which they would prefer, as no information is given about the options. While this is truly a one-click install of Linux, it isn't fast. The first step downloads an almost 700MB ISO image used to install Linux. After the download, the app takes a considerable time unpacking and installing the OS. Boot into Ubuntu and there is another wait as the OS completes setting preferences and options. It is all without user intervention, though.
A last reboot and you have a clean, handy Linux OS on your PC. Numerous apps are preinstalled and configured. Seconds after first log-in our testers were browsing the Internet and using a freeware word processor without any extra configuration. This is a great simple install package for anyone interested in trying out Linux.

"Handy utility to install Ubuntu on your system without partitioning"
Pros: Easy to use.
No need to worry about partitioning your harddrive.
Installs Ubuntu automatically.
Works great over all.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Version: Wubi 8.04
Pros: I never actually tried the downloadable wubi because is destroyed my XP Partition, But, I tried the Wubi included on my Ubuntu 8.04 disc and it worked great on vista.
Cons: Can't access your windows files unless they are on a different partition, And if you let your PC/Laptop hibernate or sleep, Ubuntu will never work again(It won't even reinstall Without giving you errors then just giving you the console, I left my laptop on and it auto went into sleep and wouldn't boot up), If you want ubuntu to work with laptops then its recommended that you partition your hardrive for linux or just format the harddrive and install linux as the primary operating system.

Version: Wubi 8.04
Pros: you can install a selct 4 flavors of xp and remove the file from windows if you have a problem. great for trying linux. You won get a bunch of partitions that are troublesome to get rid of. I also have found some live cd distro's hard to understand. This is not the case with this install package.
Cons: 1.you need at least 256MB of memory to run this app.
2.The installs arent always perfect (I haven't had one fail yet, but some installs have required booting into recovery mode or a safe mode before running.)
3. It might take a long time and you will need a network connection. If you're on dial-up, I would not recommend this installer.
4. (I wish Nubuntu was on here)
