Editor's review of WorldFlash News Ticker Gold
If the McLaughlin Group bores you and CNN Headline News is more your speed, WorldFlash News Ticker Gold may be the news application for you. Based on your choice of about 200 RSS feeds, it displays a scrolling readout of stock quotes, weather, and the latest headlines. The demo lets you add only three feeds of your own, but we appreciated features such as stock-price alerts and keyword-based news monitoring. It's easy to drag the ticker backward or forward to read a missed headline or skip ahead. You also can mark news articles for later. Also, though the default split-pane view of the ticker is hard to read, switching to the TV-Ticker Display solves the problem. We disliked the intrusive installation process, which asks for an e-mail address and other personal information, but overall, WorldFlash News Ticker Gold is a reasonable choice for monitoring stock quotes or keeping up with a few news sites.

WorldFlash News Ticker Gold
A True Rip-Off

Pros: It's a halfway-decent news ticker, if you can stand the huge gaps that tend to occur between items, and the fact that you can't add custom URLs.
Cons: First of all, you can't add your own URLs to WorldFlash. Want to add Google News? You can easily get an RSS or Atom URL for Google News, but WorldFlash provides no way to use it. This is by design, so they can keep charging you $45.00 every two years, and pretend they're providing a "service".
How long has RSS been available? How many other RSS readers are there? There is absolutely no reason for a news ticker not to allow you to add your own URLs.
This is why I say it's a rip off. You can only use the news sources that are preconfigured, and you can't add your own. You can beg for them to add a new source, but don't count on it being added.

I like it now and I always did

Pros: This tool might cost more than the free programs, but let's face it - I also get a lot more. They come up with a major release at least once a year. And guess what, I always enjoy the features they add. I synch my preferences, which allows me to have all of my choices on any computer I use - eveywhere I go. I like it more than the full browser options I can create with sites like Google or Yahoo - because it's not a full screen app. I can actually work and still check out the information I need from the news. Ever since they've added the RSS headlines a few years ago, I really started to have fun with this program.
All in all, you pay nothing - you get nothing. Here, I pay - but I couldn't be happier with the product or the company's customer service.

WorldFlash News Ticker Gold
Cool, simple to use- and excelent benefits

Pros: First, let's start with the fact that this ticker just looks cool on my screen. But really, this program is efficient and actually provides much more than the authors promote on the site. There are so many cool features that I don't think there is a compatible system on the market. I like the fact that I can see all the headlines with my keywords on a separate page. I like the fact that I can save headlines for later. The breaking news alerts are a life saver. A also screen various email accounts with Worldflash. Right now, I am using Worldflash to track a few Ebay auctions (RSS feed) and whenever there is a new posting I get it as a breaking alert news. I have used it in the past to track items on Craigslist as well. Since I am in corporate sales, I use it to keep up with my clients - as well as with their industry news. So, I always have something to chat about about when I call my accounts to keep in touch. It's an ice breaker.
All in all, this is a great program and I really enjoy it.
Cons: I wish they had a summary of the story when I place the mouse over a headline. Other than that, it's perfect for me.

WorldFlash News Ticker Gold
The best news ticker I have found

Pros: This is a great and useful program that I have been using for many years. It reliably brings in my choices for news, sports, weather and stocks, plus I find the email-checking feature to be very useful. There are many other cool features, but I also wanted to mention the excellent customer service I have received. Not free, but well worth the registration price.

Salut to WorldFlash

Pros: I've been using WorldFlash everyday for about 3 years now. I prefer it over other RSS readers because the ticker format allows me to work - while I get the news. In my case, the fact that I can view only the latest headlines (I need it to be no longer than 30 minutes) is an incredible plus for my success. I also programmed the stock ticker and requested to see the latest headlines that go along with each stock. This is a true gem!
