Windows XP Service Pack 3

Questions, Questions & more Questions!

by: Chainmail2006 on 09-May-2008 02:37:25 PM

Pros: Maybe it's just me but:

1) Why did MS release an update to SP-3 so soon after the initial release?

2) Do they know how many systems it crashed straight away?

3) For that matter, why no update to SP-1 for Vista?

4) Again, do they know how many Vista systems that junk destroyed?

Personally. I'm to the point where I no longer trust these so called engineers working on these new Service Packs. There is a tool available for download at MS, and another that will block these SP installs for one year after it's release date. I've ran both and I recommend others think about doing the same. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of reformatting because of these Service Packs!

Cons: I've said all I care to in pros. Imagine that!

Really starting to believe MS is a mess right now!

by: Charles K on 07-May-2008 11:59:27 AM

Pros: I'm really starting to believe MS is a mess right now! I haven't a clue what the "H" is going on at Microsoft these days but it's not looking to good. They release SP-1 for Vista, crashed my system three separate times. Second and third was on me, (fool me once, you know how the saying goes)! Now today for the first time on my Windows XP Pro hard drive, SP-3 shows up as an important update. Failed to install 3 separate times. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to hide it like I could SP-1 on Vista. After reading these other 4 of 5 reviews, I'll consider myself lucky and forget it. I'm having serious doubts about the competency of the engineers employed at Microsoft these days. I've changed my auto-updating settings already. Recommend forgetting about this Service Pack for a while, at least.

Cons: Please read pros. People, I wouldn't trust these new SP releases for nothing.

SLOWED LOG OFF AND BOOT UP!

by: hogmeister on 14-May-2008 01:01:31 AM

Cons: Slowed my boot up and log off time.I lost 5gb's from my hard disc. When running windows I did not notice any differnce in speed whatsoever. What a complete waste of time.

Where on earth did 5 gigs go to?

Wish I hadn't bothered now! The only thing I gained? nothing!

I Don't Know...

by: Lawtimes on 13-May-2008 06:33:44 PM

Cons: Well, after 3 or 4 complete downloads, I mean that I couldn't install this software, because of unable to run under Windows Server 2003 XP 64Bit Professional Edition. Thanks for all your support.
