BoostSpeed is an effective all-encompassing utility suite, combining some of Auslogics' popular freeware titles such as Disk Defrag and Registry Defrag with services that they don't offer elsewhere. There's an uninstall manager, a startup manager for boot cycle customizations, RAM and browser optimizers, file shredder, DirectX diagnostic, Windows tweak manager, and several mini apps to manage Windows settings. It also comes with a rescue center that can back up any settings before you change them. No doubt, BoostSpeed gives you your money's worth, at least in terms of services provided. Upgrading also only costs $10, for those who own older versions.

Are they all worth paying for? That depends on what kind of user you are. Most, if not all, of these features are available as freeware from one vendor or another, and generally one in each category is top-notch or nearly so. Some of the lesser tools, like the tweaks manager and the security feature, didn't live up to our expectations. Tweaks focused on basic functions and wouldn't serve as a replacement for TweakUI, while the security feature merely let me know that we had up-to-date security apps installed. Still, the convenience of having all these tools located under one umbrella was hard to argue with, and even the tools that didn't impress did their jobs hitch-free.

Scan speeds for the features new to us included here were comparable with those in Disk Defrag. Users also got the convenience of optionally setting the program to run at startup and live in the system tray, making most of the program's functionality no more than a context-menu click away. The most useful tools are the Disk Defrag, the RAM optimizer, the Registry Optimizer--if you believe that "optimizing" the Registry is more than snake oil--the file shredder, and the performance monitor. The 15-day trial comes unfettered, allowing you to thoroughly judge if this is a program you want.

  Barley makes 4 stars for me.

  Pros: It barley makes a 4 star rating for me. But as an owner of Boost Speed 3, which I loved on XP & hated on Vista, I found that $10.00 to upgrade was reasonable.

  Boost Speed 3 was blocked by Vista on startup, v4 isn't. With the free AUS Defrag, which was also a love hate relationship, I find that with this updated program which includes it, it's actually better with no nag about junk files. The registry cleaner is less aggressive & safer in my book. The registry defrag did not mess up my Creative Music Player where the one in Tuneup Utilities 2008 did. There is an option in System Information that will create a full report which is much more accurate then the one the free Belarc Adviser displays. Even though there are solid, free programs that will accomplish almost everything this does, I upgraded for the $10.00 and feel it was worth that price. If I was a new customer, I wouldn't pay $30.00 for it because there are a couple, better like programs available. Personally, I prefer Win Utilities to this but having both certainly cant hurt.

  Cons: The price as a new customer is more then it's worth with good freeware that can accomplish these tasks. It's not as easy to navigate as v3 was but thats probably because I was used to it. The program optimizations have to be selected manually where in v3 they were 2 clicks each.

  Not bad, but not that good either?

  Pros: Gave it a go for the trial period after much prompting at the conclusion of the scan of their Disc defrag app. Tried all of the functions except the uninstall manager (because I didn't need it). All ran smoothly.

  Cons: Apart from the registry & disc defrag functions, which are available separately for free, and perform well, I didn't feel Boostspeed did enough to make it worth paying for. As mentioned in the editor's review, all the functions are available as freeware elsewhere & I'm going to try these out before making a decision which way to go. Overall this app caused absolutley no problems, but didn't give a noticeable improvement in the performance of my desktop either.

  Pros: well, there is nothing wrong with this program and those who can spend a little on pc maintenance should seriously consider buying this software as it will give you all the features under a single user friendly interface. but for all others, you can get almost all of these features at no cost at all:-

  Disk Defragmentation - Auslogics Disk Defrag

  Registry Defragmentation - Auslogics Registry Defrag

  Registry Error Removal - Eusing free registry cleaner

  Removal of junk files - ccleaner

  Ram optimization - FreeRAM XP Pro

  Windows tweaks - TweakUI

  File shredding - File Shredder 2

  Windiws Start up - Start up manager (you can find this freeware by searching on google or on sourceforge.net)

  Just a very simple basic program

  Pros: It is an improvment to the previous version but that is not saying much for it as the previous version was a total disaster in general. There are better programs out there for free.

  Cons: Its all a very basic program with some of the tools included twice just under a different name. There are better programs out there for free and would do a much better job. This is only my opinion.

  Pros: The program does all that it promises, but you can get the same results from free programs, i.e. Glary Utilities, Auslogics Disk Defragmenter and Auslogics Registry Defragmanter.
