A comprehensive Registry-modification utility, WinBoost is effective, if not always straightforward to use. Opening the door to the Windows settings normally accessible only via the daunting Registry editor, WinBoost explains every option and offers tips and tricks to help you tweak your system. You will find hundreds of enhancements at your disposal, including modifications to the Start menu, icons and shortcuts, Windows Explorer's right-click menu, security, and many other parts of the system. The interface is not exactly user-friendly, though. Many will find it difficult to read the microscopic font used for explanations, and finding a particular setting in long lists is no easy feat, either. We also would have preferred to get information about a setting without having to click its check box. These flaws might discourage some users, but the program is a solid choice for those with a pressing need to personalize their Registry settings.
