- "The wonder killer"
Ever wonder if your PC is keeping secrets from you? Wonder no more. The freeware utility What's Running reveals all your system's active processes, services, drivers, and connections.
It's like Windows Task Manager, except far more informative. The cramped multipane interface is very hard to read, but even it has its good points: it lists processes in a parent-child hierarchy, not a bad way to accidentally spot malware. It also lets you choose which columns of information to display, and it makes stopping or prioritizing processes as simple as a mouse click--a right-click, to be precise. It even lets you control which programs launch at start-up.
Looks aside, What's Running ought to appeal to system administrators, support specialists, and tech-savvy home users who want to know precisely what their computer is up to.

Version: What's Running 2.2
Pros: This little program shows me everything going on my computer. It gives me detailed information about all the services, processes, modules, and startup programs. If I am unsure what something is, this program makes it easy for me to find out more information on the internet. This program puts you in complete control of your computer. I love it! It runs very smoothly on my Dell 2.8Ghz WinXP Home. This program is worth a try!
Cons: The interface is a little cluttered. I guess most people would find that a con. I actually consider it a plus, myself. It's cluttered, but not messy.

Version: What's Running 2.2
"Too quirky to keep installed full time"
Pros: The few times it actually ran correctly, it seemed very helpful
Cons: I would run the program only to have it never appear, yet it would still show up in the task manager. Sometimes it would just shut down completely. It was too erratic to be of much use and I have since uninstalled it.
