Just collect media files, preview them and simply add to your screensaver project using a point-and-click interface. You also can add text, date, and time using different fonts and effects. You can add JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and TGA images, MP3, WAV and MIDI sounds, MPEG and AVI video files, and Flash SWF animations. No programming skills are needed. Full support is provided for self-installing screensavers. You can test the screensaver at any time. Generated screensavers can be distributed for free.

Version 2.2 has new slide-show effects, hyperlink support, generates smaller, less CPU consuming, and more stable screensavers, and includes import/export of text messages.

If you have 60 seconds, you can make a simple screensaver from your favorite photos, videos, music, and Flash animations with Ultra Screen Saver Maker. In our tests, it took less than a minute to generate a self-installing screensaver from 50 images and an MP3 file. The intuitive interface lets you make a screensaver quickly the first time you ever use the program. The program is omnivorous in regards to the format of your input files. It exports the screensavers as SCR files for use on your own computer or as EXE installers for easy distribution. It does not have an editing time line, though, so designing a screensaver is kind of like making a salad--you just slice and mix with the transition effects, which include rolls and slide shows. Ultra Screen Saver Maker's simplicity suits it for home use.

  Avoid Unless You're Desperate

  Pros: A run of the mill screensaver programme. Nothing special and very slow even on a fast system. Will do the basics if you can be bothered to wait for it.

  Cons: Non-existent customer support. Bought a version but when they updated it wouldn't accept the registration key they had supplied. A further week on they still hadn't managed to even reply. This has happened so often it's not even worth bothering with. If you can find another product you like then use it.
