Celestia is a space simulation that allows you to travel within the solar system, out to the stars, and beyond the Milky Way galaxy. Possible destinations include over 100,000 stars, nearly one hundred solar system destinations, and sixty recently-discovered extrasolar planets. Celestia uses OpenGL to render realistic real-time animations of space travel.

Version 1.5.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Gets you out of your chair and up into space flying your own ship"

Pros: This program is awesome. Unlike most other space sims, you can fly throughout the cosmos to hundreds of destinations, including planets, dwarf planets, moons, asteroids, comets, over 50 spacecraft, stars, nebula, black holes, pulsars, fictional solar systems complete with their own civilizations. Its really like going into space. There is also a set of detailed journeys you can take called Celestia Educational Activities. You can find them on one of Celestia's websites called the "Celestia motherlode".

Pros: Viewpoint wonderful, and Links aid with Maneuvering

Cons: Takes a while to get proficient [but steps can be fascinating]

Summary: Beautiful stuff with so many variables, incuding auxillary Links...
