Publisher's description of VirtualBox
From Sun Microsystems:InnoTek VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines.
Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. Version 1.5.4 includes several changes such as adding USB 2.0 support, fixing several bugs, and other improvements.

Version: VirtualBox 1.5.4
"The best virtualization tool"
Pros: Simple interface. Supports many guest and host OSs. It can assign selected USB ports or devices to the guest OSs. It can capture current state of an OS and save it for backup. It has "Guest Additions" software to be installed on guest OSs which supports many functions like "mouse integration" (which auto-adjusts resolution of guest OS to match the window size). Easy network connections.
Cons: Very difficult file transfer between the real and guest OSs.
