Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of all those ads and banners. Right-click on a banner and choose Adblock from the context menu - the banner won't be downloaded again. Or click Adblock Plus icon in the toolbar to see all elements of the page and block the banners. You can use filters with wildcards or even regular expressions to block complete banner factories.

Version 0.7.5.4 locales added Hebrew and Malay; improved Firefox 3 compatibility; changed default keyboard shortcuts to Ctrl+Shift+E (preferences) and Ctrl+Shift+V (blockable items); and removed Check banner links option.

This Firefox extension saves bandwidth and Web site loading time by blocking banners and other ads. Adblock Plus effectively blocks online ads from a predefined list of ad providers, and you can easily expand the list by clicking on an advertisement.

Adblock Plus runs unobtrusively in the background and has no true interface. However, right-clicking an ad brings up a bland, text-based message box, through which you can easily add to the list of blocked ads. Removing an ad from the blocked list also is as simple as clicking and choosing the appropriate option.

Any Firefox user annoyed by a barrage of advertising will appreciate this free extension. Recommended.

  "Hard to install: What's a .xpi anyway?"

  Pros: Still blocks ads well, I like that! No ads is SO awesome!

  Cons: The .xpi file was as useful as a dead raccoon; I went to Wladimir's site and got it to download properly there.

  "Won't install in Firefox 3"

  Pros: . . . haven't seen it yet.

  Cons: they say it's compatible with FF3 but installing it with FF3 it said it isn't compatible and wouldn't load.

  Pros: Works well and does what its supposed to.

  Cons: As long as you don't upgrade to Firefox 3.0 - There is no upgrade available even though it is a "must have"!
