Version: VueScan 8.3.54
Pros: Using Leopard 10.5.2 - Mac Pro - 8 core with Photoshop CS3, VueScan v8.4.71
Excellent software. No problems as with other softwares that come bundled with scanners. Using it on Microtek i700 ScanMaker flatbed. SF kept freezing Photoshop and my computer. VueScan is very stable and as good if not better than the others. Plus you receive excellent support. Cudos!

Version: VueScan 8.3.54
Pros: One of the few tools I've found that will scan directly to multipage TIFF... very nice. Lots of flexibility, including multiple outputs from a single scan, and very good auto-contrasting. Oh, and for those who have trouble reading OS requirements... a Windows build is available at the Hamrick Software website.
Cons: Sharp learning curve and the documentation is very functionally-oriented... experimentation and "what does this do" will take up a bit of time getting the tool to do what you want.

Version: VueScan 8.3.54
"An amazing improvement over the bundled scanner software"
Pros: Much faster with previews and scans, changes the scanner sound from a high pitched squeal to a muffled low rumble, instantly opens the image in my preferred image editing program. I scan hundreds of pictures from old books and I needed a program that did not dilly dally around. This one gets the job done.

Version: VueScan 8.3.54
"Tries to be the universal everything multifeature versatile tool"
Pros: Doesn't require installation, recognizes Canon scanner and works at once.
Cons: First of all the price is completely ridiculous. 50$ for a scanner driver is nothing less but outrageous.
The programme struggles with its own demands. Instead of trying to be the universal professional multi-scanner and multi-tasking graphics tool that nobody needs, a simple scanner driver (maybe as a "light" option of the package) would have been a marvellous idea and a 100% recommendable product.
What you get instead is or a trial version that watermarks all your scans and makes them unuseable, or for the 50 bucks something that is way too complex for just being a scanner driver. It's a pity because the core of VueScan is not too bad at all, but the way it is presented it is unaccepteable and not recommendable.
