Publisher's description of UltimateDefrag 2008
From DiskTrix:UltimateDefrag lets you defrag and optimize your hard drive any way you want to. Hard drive file use adheres to the Pareto Rule of 80/20. 80% of the time you only use 20% of the files on your hard drive. UltimateDefrag lets you place those unused files out of the way onto the slower tracks of your drive. UltimateDefrag also considers the high performance areas of your hard drive (the outer tracks) and enables you to strategically place the files and folders you want the best performance from to these faster outer tracks. UltimateDefrag also provides the first true disk display metaphor in a defragger.
UltimateDefrag can place Directories next to your MFT for very fast MFT/Directory transactions. This alone vastly accelerates performance of your hard drive. Clever OptiSeek Technology will organize your hard drive so that most file accesses will equal the track-to-track seek time for your hard drive. Includes over 200 total defrag method combinations. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Version: UltimateDefrag 2008 2.0.0.48
Pros: Cool interface, great idea if it worked properly.
Cons: I got the trial of this program because everybody keeps on saying how great it works. On the first analyze it said my degree of fragmentation was 25%...so ok i ran the auto defrag...now its 50%..what the hell. I have tried every single possible option configuration to try and get this to work, no luck. all my other defrag programs say the disk doesn't need defragmenting, but it still shows 50% on this with apparently no way to bring it down...waste of time.

Version: UltimateDefrag 2008 2.0.0.48
Pros: It has all the features a computer nerd loves. It is completely customizable, fast at doing it's job, and with the proper configuration, it gives your drive the fastest performance possible. The key is to configure it to sort all the directories and files on your hard drive by Name/Alphabetically, and to store unused files/directories such as Windows Update UNinstallers, and archive files, and games you aren't currently playing, to the end of the drive volume so it doesn't detriment the performance of accessing the data you use often.
Cons: It would be better if you could set the "archive" files that you configure, to be moved to right after the rest of your data, before the free space, instead of at the end of the volume

Version: UltimateDefrag 2008 2.0.0.48
Pros: The uninstaller works.
Cons: It leaves files behind when you uninstall which is a required task if you run vista. This program claims to work with it, but it sucks. If you paid for this, I am sorry.
Summary: This program is excellent for taking money out of your wallet. Im glad I didnt pay for it. It does not work at all. I cant even start the program because it crashes right away.
