Version: Anarchy Online (including Shadowlands) 15.6.1
Pros: Anarchy Online has a nice concept, a huge world, a friendly community and the classic version is free of charge! There are different races and creatures to choose from. Different and exciting specialities, jobs, wars, clans, friends. You can choose to go to a city in the sky, or go to the large main world, Rubi-Ka.
Cons: This is a very LARGE download, it took me five hours. Then there is a lengthy patching process. (Which didn't work the first time). Most graphics cards have difficulty running it. It freezes alot and the lag at times is HORRIBLE. Although Anarchy Online seems like a nice game. You'll need a good PC and fast internet connection. And I still think you would have problems.
I recommend Knight Online Acsension, or Rubies of Eventide. Smaller downloads, and soo much better.

Version: Anarchy Online (including Shadowlands) 15.6.1
"Gorgeous, but get it elsewhere"
Pros: It's free, big, and one of the best looking games on this website. I have a junky graphics card and this ran smooth as a bell. It plays like an online version of a theme park that happens to let you level and RP as well. There's so much to see and do.
Cons: This file is twice as big as the one I got off of the official site (880 mb), and that one is much more recent (read: less patching). It has Shadowlands in it and everything, though the shadowlands access requires a monthly fee. There's also some in-game ads, to support the free, classic version.

Version: Anarchy Online (including Shadowlands) 15.6.1
Pros: First off the free version of the client is much smaller than the large client (than the one downloadable on this site) Go to anarchy's site for the small (free) client. recommend downloading with bit torrent. I was downloading at great speeds. There is a good variety of professions to choose from. There are so many skills for each character. And an insane amount of different kinds of items, weapons, armor. I found the people to be very helpful for new players and was easy to join a good organization.(like a guild)
I've found this game to be equally team based and good for soloers. The shadowlands expansion adds a huge new worlds and tons of great new items and such. Another expansion is Alien Invasion. With this expansion your org can buy a city that has player shop terminals and importantly can host alien raids. The expansions do require a monthly subscription. And also needs the large client, which is also free. I really like this game because it totally keeps me interested. Its not mind dullingly easy like guild wars or WoW. And I have made so many great friends and we are always helping eachother out when needed. One of my friends plays using dial-up internet connect. So dont worry if you dont have dsl or cable internet.
I would recommend trying the free version first, trying a few different professions. And if you like it, it gets 1000% better with the expansions. And they rotate the special offers for getting the expansions.
Cons: When i first began, I had no clue what to do, or where to go. And that pissed me off. But I learned quicky, there are many online beginner guides that will tell you everything you need to know on the forums of anarchy's site. I suggest reading them while client downloads.
There is lag time to time.
I do recommend at least a 128mb vid card, but I first played on a newer dell (the $300 cheapest pc) with the crappy onboard video chipset, though i had to set the ingame visual settings on low.
This game is quite more complex then others, theres alot to it. Credits will be tight in the beginning, and that can be frustrating.
The free version can be slow to progress at higher levels. I feel this game is not as enjoyable without the expansions.
