  True sword is true junk

  Pros: None

  Cons: Misleading advertising, removed nothing from my pc. Without saying much, gui is ugly, didn;t find any spwyware on test pc's and found stuff it shouldn't have. not any real extras.

  True Sword

  Fakeware Scam to scare you into sending money.

  Pros: Would you really trust a computer program that tells you it is doing a great job when you have no way to verify whether or not this is true?

  Cons: True Sword is a scam.

  True Sword, pretends to scan your computer. It then creates faked reports about how your computer is 'infested'.

  True Sword tells you it 'fixes' the first 10 problems but then it finds 130 more problems.

  You are told to send more money to 'finish the job'.

  I did some due dilligence/

  I found that the problems True Sword said it was 'correcting' never existed on my computer. If you look closely at the results the program generates, you can even see they make up goofy names for the 'problems' they find.

  They count on you not to look too closely.

  True Sword is a scam program, and any google search will show you the complaints.

  Hopefully the FBI or FTC will put these clowns in jail.

  Don't waste your time with this scam.

  Frankly, I'm disappointed CNet has made this scamware program available. I will hesitate the next time I use CNET's services, since clearly tCNET is not checking what they put up.

  True Sword

  Too Limited also Hijacks and forces open Internet explorer on uninstall

  Pros: Has a nice looking Icon on Desktop

  Cons: It only took a fraction of a second, from pressing the "try me out" button, to display it's first malware alert. My Laptop Hard drive didn't make a sound whilst supposedly scanning the disk; This made me suspicious. The moment I hit fix it, the next issue shot up. Once again no disk sound. Now, if True Sword had scanned my hard drive before I hit the "OK I will try it" button, I could understand. You only get 3 repairs which were gone in 20 seconds. Pop-ups inform you to get you to sign up $30. The application appears to rotate through through it's found issues, but you cannot fix them anymore. True Sword started naming applications, including Firefox and Norton antivirus, claiming they are not the real Firefox and Norton, but imitations installed into the "System32" folder. I checked the "System32" folder and those ".exe"'s were not there at all. I wonder, like other reviews, if this could be a bit of a con. I think one supposedly fixed issue, appeared again when I started True Sword again. The Scarey wording in alerts make you think you have a Virus (I haven't had a virus for maybe 5 years)then makes you thankful it's found, and then terrifies you to upgrade to fix them. I use ZoneAlarm, and have Firefox as my default Browser (for security reasons). True Sword's uninstall forced the Risky Internet Explorer to open, and hijacked it to their website.... Scarey. I can't decide whether I am more displeased with the application's little "Demo" or it forcing the stricken and totally unsecure Internet Explorer to open (not my default Firefox browser) at a site of THEIR choice, and, after you have supposedly uninstalled the software. I must admit, though, that if they made it 14 or 30 days trial, and if I were totally desperate, I might have tried again at a later date, however, with the Internet Explorer issue, not a chance.... Totally Scarey ####

  True Sword

  Ineffective as a demo program

  Pros: Downloadable version is innefective to evaluate due to limitations! Avoid this one

  Cons: Will scan your system for "problems". It will fix only the first 3 found. With the vast number of malwares (sometimes hundreds on a computer), fixing only the first 3 found makes use or evaluation impossible. The program screens are... annoying. I recommend avoiding this one. go to ewido.net and get a free online scan that WILL clean your computer!

  True Sword

  Saved my bacon when other programs failed

  Pros: A friend asked me to see if I could fix his laptop, that could no longer get on the internet. I quickly determined that he had several viruses, worms, and trojans. I spent the better part of a weekend using all of the traditional programs (Norton, Ad-Aware, Panda, Kaspersky, Spy Doctor, and Spy Sweeper) to try and clean it off, but they all either reported no infections found, or wanted me to purchase a license to remove the ones that they did find. Nothing was working. In doing web searches on some of the things that were infecting the PC, I came across True Sword. I was leery, since I had never heard of it, and actually had I seen the reviews here, I probably would not have tried it. But I was desperate, so I gave it a shot. I was very pleased when it found and removed the DOZENS of malicious pieces of scuzz-ware on the laptop. I admit, though, I was extremely worried when it started finding problems with things that should have been okay, like regedit, and notepad, but it turns out that those files were buried deep in places where the rightful file does not actually exist. In my first pass with the program, I skipped a number of thigs that I didn't think were actually viruses, but in my second pass, I was more thorough. It appears that True Sword got rid of the things that those other programs (which I normally use and really trust) could not or would not.

  Cons: The bad part is that it does apprear to think that anything that accesses the internet is a virus or a trojan. For example, it said that the Java updater, the Toshiba upadter (it's a Toshiba laptop), and a couple other things were mailicious and should be removed. I chose not to remove them, and I'm pretty sure that I made the right choice. But who knows, maybe they are actually infected. Some of the things it finds, it gives no explanation of what they are or where they came from, and you are left to your own experience as to whether to nuke them or not. Still had I found this program on Friday, I would have had a lot more free time this weekend.
