With a simple tap, you can instantly view the tip and tax amounts required for a given purchase. This figure can be viewed separately, or incorporated into the final sum you owe. The program also offers an easy-to-use interface, and will let you to configure the amounts and percentages used in calculations. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

No more fighting over the bill
The concept is simple: Calculate tips quickly from your mobile phone. Tipster does just that in a single, attractive screen, and also throws in a field for splitting the cost evenly among parties from two to 10. Weirdly lacking is a way to enter the percentage into the tip field--calculations are limited to 5 percent increments, from 0 to 30 percent. The field for entering the bill total has also been strangely implemented, not as a blank slate, but prefilled with zeros. Don't make a mistake or you'll have to input the total again, a minor annoyance in an otherwise useful app.
