Publisher's description of The Cleaner Professional
From MooSoft Development:
If you surf the Web or send and receive e-mail, you can't afford to be without The Cleaner. It protects your system from Trojan horses, which are destructive programs that masquerade as friendly applications. Version 4.2 build 4319 updated the cleaning and scanning engine to support emerging threats.

Editor's review of The Cleaner Professional
This utility both scans your machine for malicious programs and offers a real-time shield, but neither demonstrates particularly impressive performance. The Cleaner Professional's interface is simple enough to understand but could still benefit from some design tweaks. For instance, when you initiate a scan, the main control panel disappears and another window pops up; we don't understand why everything can't be integrated into one place. The application's definitions database doesn't look as comprehensive as some of its competitors and may be partially to blame for its lukewarm performance. The real-time protection module let in several well-known offenders during testing, and the scanner failed to remove a good deal of the malicious programs we purposefully installed. Still, we do appreciate features such as a scheduler and a quarantine manager. In light of its stiff competition, The Cleaner Professional comes off as a strictly mediocre pick.

The Cleaner Professional
evil splash screen and ad annoyance
by: shurlocke
on 26-May-2007 10:32:15 AM
Pros: none
Cons: 1. STUPID JERK MADE A SPLASH SCREEN THAT GOT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SCREEN AS WELL AS A HUGE BUY IT NOW REMINDER AD THAT WOULD NOT GO AWAY AFTER A MINUTE AND IT MADE FIREFOX HANG. I HAD TO TERMINATE BOTH, THANKYOU FOR STEALING TIME FROM MY LIFE. Who the hell wants to see a splash screen and had their memory sapped by it? It was bizarre to, a sketch of a bull and a cartoon cleaner guy, yeah that really mixes. Disgusted.
2. One of the parts of this program is a process monitor, and incredibly it took up about 630000 k of memory while task manager only takes up about 5000.
3. It other part is a registry monitor, wow big deal and the thing looks dull as hell. It took up about 8130k.
Forget this evil crap.

The Cleaner Professional
Not that great

Pros: Easy to use, it doesn't consume much resources out of your PC. Got a couple of great options, such as TC Monitor or TC Mode.
Cons: The real thing is that I downloaded this program believing it would full fill the work that my anti virus wouldn't do, but I was all wrong. I was amazed seeing how my anti virus application got to detect more Trojans than The Cleaner. So at the end it doesn't worth much if you got a good antivirus.
And the price is just mad, paying 40 euros for this? I would never ever pay that much.
Plus, I really think the guy who wrote the review above me works for Moosoft.

The Cleaner Professional
Good solid and easy to use interface for the casual computer user
by: Pazuzus

Pros: As an advance computer user, I really like what the folks did at Moosoft. This is a solid program and quite powerful with an integrated easy to use interface for the less savvy.
For the folks out there... ONE program won't do it all.
I have been using The Cleaner since it first came out many years ago and is extremely pleased with it's range.
Do I only use The Cleaner? No.
I use The Cleaner for "Trojans" which it is made for.
I use Trend Micro for "Viruses" which is made for.
And 3 times a week I use Ad-Aware SE to scan for "adaware, malware, grayware..."
In 10 years my system got infected ONLY 2 times. And The Cleaner did it all.
Be versatile and open minded. One program will detect some and the next program the rest. One can't do it all.
That's my rule of thumb. Use the program for what it is made for and The Cleaner is the highest ranked in my book as far dealing with Trojans.
Of course if you don't set update at "auto" you can't really blame the guys at Moosoft if your system gets corrupted.
Cons: Other than the timeframe between responses from Moosoft I have nothing to say negatively about the product.
