Editor's review of TaBazarII
A basic music notation program designed for guitar and other fretted instruments, TaBazarII could be useful for composers and songwriters. Nevertheless, it falls far short of perfection.
Like most programs of its kind, it allows users to add notes on a tablature score, and play back the composed songs. The program comes with samples of tablature-driven pieces, a useful element for beginners; it offers a piano-keyboard interface as well. Either interface can become cumbersome over time, however. Each new track is added to the existing score separately, so songs with many instruments can become hard to navigate. A nag screen reminding users to register appears every time unregistered users play back a measure or entire piece. Similarly, only 20 measures can be saved before registering. In our minds, this might provide a good introduction to tablature editors for newcomers, but several rivals on the market offer a more pleasing overall experience.
