This child-friendly browser proves to be just as parent-friendly when it comes to setting up. Surf Knight's simple interface is easily explained even to kindergarten-age kids. It's just enough like other browsers that older children will operate it with no explanations needed.
Parents looking for an easy way to lock down a browser will find this app a breeze to configure. Surf Knight takes just a few seconds to install. A helpful wizard guides parents through setting a password and other options. On a single page, check boxes toggle 10 options that a kid's browser needs. Parents can easily lock the browser to block all other apps from view, disable all file downloads, log visited pages, display a search bar, and block pop-ups.
Parents can build lists of Web sites to block or allow. Either option is easy to maintain, but differ greatly in practice. It is impossible to block all problem Web sites. It's easier to allow only select Web sites, but users will find scrolling through the list tedious. Surf Knight doesn't allow you to display the whole list and choose a particular site. Users are forced to scroll through the list forward or backward, and each site is displayed before the next can be called.
Of course, a dedicated teen will find a way around Surf Knight, but it is a wonderful find for parents with younger children. It's freeware, doesn't tax most systems, and it's easy to use for child and parent alike.

"Very neat browser for children"
Pros: SurfKnight browser certainly does allay the concerns of parents worried about their children accessing un-childish content on Internet. It's also integrated with Answers.com for additional educational functionality. You set the password and security settings, and voila!
Cons: This is version 1, thus it is not 100% perfect yet. Plus it's not available on Linux or Macs. But I am confident more new cool features will be added to SurfKnight as time goes on.
