Publisher's description of Streamripper for Winamp 2 and 5
Streamripper is an open-source (GPL) plug-in for Winamp that connects to streaming MP3 servers such as Shoutcast and records the tracks to your hard drive as individual files. With the emergence of file-sharing protocols such as Napster and Gnutella, the average Internet user can download nearly any MP3 file quickly and easily. Streamripper, however, allows you to download an entire station of music from the Internet. After installation this plug-in can be activated in the preferences menu of your Winamp player.

Version: Streamripper for Winamp 2 and 5 1.61.21
"Easy to use plugin for winamp."
Pros: Quick and easy integration into Winamp. Automatically gets current Winamp source URL, which is recorded by clicking the Start-button. File-naming is configurable.
Cons: The file-naming doesn't work properly with the pattern I set up.

Version: Streamripper for Winamp 2 and 5 1.61.21
Pros: Works well as basic streamripper for Winamp - but the combination is not as useful as say XMPlay's built-in stream save function.
Cons: Very fiddly to install and use - tries to take over and intercept every stream you play - quite strenuous effort required to defeat that! Nasty little command-line style window pops up when running - annoying and distracting. Winamp 5.35 is quite the best all-round media player, but (in my opinion) in this respect it falls far behind its close rival XMPlay.

Version: Streamripper for Winamp 2 and 5 1.61.21
Pros: THIS IS AN AWESOME WAY TO RECORD SHOUTCAST TO AN MP3 IT MAKES A FILE FOR YOU AND NOT LIKE AUDACITY YOU CAN STILL SURF MYSPACE OR ANY OTHER WEB PAGE WHILE RECORDING AND IT'LL RECORD THE MUSIC WITH OUT RECORDING YOUR MESSENGER OR ANY OTHER NOISE ON THE NET. bUT IF YOU USE AUDACITY YOU CANT HAVE ANY OTHER NOISE COMING THROUGH YOUR SPEAKERS. BUT STREAM RIPPER WILL RECORD THE STATION ONLY.YOU CAN ALSO DELETE THE COMMERCALS OUT.
Cons: REMEMBER YOUR VOLUME HAS TO BE AT THE RIGHT LEVEL OR YOU'LL GET FEEDBACK OR DISTORTION AND IT'LL SOUND LIKE SHYT. TRY IT ABOUT 25 TO 60 DEPENDS ON BIT RATE. LOWER 54 TO 96 BIT RATE HIGHER VOLUME 128 OR ABOVE RECORD AT A LOWER VOLUME.
