StatusMonitors provides a desktop display of the status of your computer system as well as the status of other computers on the local network. The application includes a client for displaying the status information, a preference pane plugin for System Preferences, and a service to share status information with other computers. The client monitors volume/folder/file usage, memory usage, network load and processor usage. The service provides information about memory usage, network load and processor usage to networked computers. The appearance of the client, the monitors to be displayed, and service sharing are controlled from the preference pane.

- "Get to where you need to go"
A Macintosh tool for those who want to know exactly what's going on around them at all times, StatusMonitors is a one-stop desktop monitor. The software displays real-time information about CPU usage, network traffic, memory and disk usage, and even noncomputer elements such as current weather conditions, all on the desktop or in the dock.
This can help determine whether a particular program is straining your machine or quietly eating up bandwidth without your knowledge. The application is fully configurable, tracking only the elements you choose. We like the transparent desktop interface, but found the drag-and-drop configuration process a bit cumbersome.
In future versions, we'd love to simply be able to select which measurements we want, and have them pop up on the screen. For many computer users, StatusMonitors may provide too much information, but for the curious (or rightfully paranoid), this could certainly be a fun and useful tool.
