From Adaptive Software Lab: StartUp Watchdog is a Windows start-up manager, as well as a trojan horse, virus, and worm remover. StartUp Watchdog allows you to monitor all programs autostarted during your Windows start-up or after user logged in. It is useful if you're installing/uninstalling new applications and grt annoyed by unauthorized use of your Windows dtart-up list. It is also effective against Trojan horses, viruses, worms, and other suspicious programs.

Keeping track of programs that load as Windows starts is what this program does well, but we wish one of the advertised functions worked during the trial period. StartUp Watchdog tracks the numerous places where programs load upon system start-up. The interface is well designed with information logically arranged. The program is especially useful when loading new software. It alerts the user if the new software attempts to set anything to load at start-up. StartUp Watchdog also monitors any other changes in select areas of the Registry and start-up folders. With the detailed information about file properties, we much prefer it over the start-up tab of MSConfig. Users can toggle on or off any programs from loading at startup and remove programs from the Registry. While the application claims the "What is It?" function of finding online information about any file is enabled, we could not get it to function during our trial. Finding some programs would be easier if StartUp Watchdog could sort all files by name or path rather than only by Registry section location. Information rich for novices and advanced users, StartUp Watchdog is easy to install and easier to use.

  Worked great until trial period was over

  Pros: It worked wonderfully...told me when something new wanted to start, allowed me to stop or start a process, application etc and stayed the same after rebooting.

  Cons: Once the trial period is over the program stops working and whatever processes or applications that were allowed or not allowed stay that way...if you uninstall watchdog it removes/deletes the processes or applications you had it stop. Worse yet it leaves behind info that wont allow you to reinstall Watchdog. If you want to fix what it stopped you have to buy the program, and their website is no longer there. In other words your up the creek without a paddle ;o(
