Publisher's description of Start Menu Organizer
Over time, as more and more applications get installed, the Start Menu can get so cluttered that you end up spending a lot of time just trying to find that program you want to run. The Winstep Start Menu Organizer allows you to quickly group your Start Menu shortcuts into a specific set of categories (e.g. Utilities, Internet, Office) thus making finding what you are looking for a lot easier and much faster.
Easy to use with intuitive interface. Full drag & drop support. Multi item selection and handling. Unlimited undo and redo levels. No actual changes made until you are satisfied with the new organization. Start menu backup and restore support. Automatic backup of the start menu contents on first run. Automatic removal of dead shortcuts. Multi language support. Includes update manager to look for, download, and automatically install new versions. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Version: Start Menu Organizer 1.1
"Does exactly what it says... as long as you're careful."
Pros: The program appears straightforward, giving users effective control over start organization in an easy to use format.
Cons: Appearances can be deceiving. It doesn't add already created folders with contents as subcategories. It can also be unforgiving if you make a mistake, especially when hitting Apply or OK inadvertently.
Summary: Start Menu Organizer tries to make navigation easier, and goes a long way to that end. It could handle existing folders better. It would also help to return to a previous configuration, even after saving.
