Its simple, instead of double clicking the icon, as you would with Windows XP, with Vista you have to right click the icon, and when the menu open, click Run as Administrator, and then it works fine.. Quickbooks has the same issue in Vista , as well as many other software titles.

The previous replay provide the quickest approach that will work -Right Click the program desktop icon and select the Run As Admin option. You may encounter a similar experience with other (usually older) programs that are not 100% Vista compliant. Even though you are running under an Admin ID, for security purposes Vista downgrades your ID privileges until needed. The problem is that this approach requires the program to be coded to request Vista to elevate the ID's privileges when needed for performing certain restricted tasks.

I also am having exactly the same problem re not having admin rights. In fact I don't appear to have any rights, files will not open, everything went wobbly after install. I now think it is not compatible with firefox. I have tried everything I can think of. It has been a pure headache.
