Publisher's description of Sim City 2000

From Maxis Corp: SimCity 2000 allows the user to build and manage a metropolis. You're given a plot of barren land to zone into industrial, residential, and commercial areas where people work, live, and play. Lay roads, subways, highways, and railroads to connect the zones and watch your city grow as citizens immigrate. As your city grows, you must deal with crime, education, and health issues by strategically placing police stations, schools, and hospitals. Add parks and stadiums, on-ramps and bus stops, airports and seaports as your citizens' needs grow. Manage traffic, the budget, and the needs of your constituents, or face riots, public ridicule in the presses, and eventual impeachment.

Editor's review of Sim City 2000

2 star editors rating This small demo will provoke nostalgic feelings in longtime SimCity fans, but the graphics, the sound, and the limited feature set may fall below your most negative expectations. This is gaming the way it was back in 1994, when CPU speeds still lagged below 100MHz and hardly anyone dreamed of owning a 3D graphics card. And yes, everyone walked to school through a mile of snow. In Sim City 2000, you play the mayor of a major city. You build roads and facilities, tweak taxes, manage city policies, and plan districts, all under the pitiless gaze of a muckraking press. The 640x480 isometric graphics were a delight in their time, and the gameplay an infinitely complex marvel. These days, the 30 minutes of the demo probably won't satisfy even the most retro gamers. It hurts to say it, but we can't seriously recommend this outdated title.
