Publisher's description of Securepoint Personal Firewall & VPN Client
From Securepoint:The job of your Securepoint PC Firewall & VPN is to protect a PC from unwelcome access from the outside and to protect your personal data thereby. Protecting the PC from attacks from the Internet is the most important field of application today. The Securepoint PC Firewall represents the intersection between your local PC and the Internet. It also supervises all transfer of data. The Firewall automatically hides your PC. That means it makes the PC invisible for possible attackers and catches suspicious connections. Unnoticed passing-on of personal data will become impossible. The integrated VPN Client is an easy-to-use remote working software based on the latest IPSec VPN technology.
The software provides smooth integration with a remote network and may be used with the most popular IPSec-compliant gateway - like Securepoint Firewall & VPN server. The software provides authentication, encryption to your network traffic and supports Preshared Key authentication / X509 certificates.

Version: Securepoint Personal Firewall & VPN Client 3.6.11
Pros: Don't know any!
Cons: Installed the software, sloppy translation still has some German items. Crashed Windows XP SP2 immediately after loading. Good thing it's slow enough, that the third time I was able to uninstall it before it finished loading.

Version: Securepoint Personal Firewall & VPN Client 3.6.11
Pros: I do not understand why some people wrote that it doesn't work on Windows XP SP 2 (?). I have Windows XP Pro SP2 and it works very well. It is a good firewall and includes VPN Settings. Also one can download from their web site a instruction manual in English. I do not know German but I understood everything because they have translated it into English...
Cons: I am not sure yet.

Version: Securepoint Personal Firewall & VPN Client 3.6.11
"Dangerous! Does not work with XP SP2!"
Pros: Downloaded, installed well. I read and speak German, no problems. Turned off XP's own crappy firewall as instructed.
Cons: Program caused errors and threw system into a constant reboot-load-reboot loop which was only defeated by going into SAFE mode and uninstalling this foul piece of crap. This company needs to readdress the issue and Download should be totally ashamed for not putting warnings out on links that are incompatible with XP's SP2 (as I found out this was by visiting the Microsoft Knowledge Base after all of this). Download/CNet, you are leaving yourself open to legal liabilities this way...

Version: Securepoint Personal Firewall & VPN Client 3.6.11
Pros: None
Cons: It crashed my computer (XP Pro no service packs) every time it started. I finally had to boot into safe mode and uninstall it. I'm still getting messages about serious errors at start up, but (thankfully), no more BSODs (so far). DO NOT download or install this software. It's clearly not ready for prime time.
