From FontLab: ScanFont takes bitmap images such as photos, scanned handwriting samples, clipart, removes the background; separates the characters; autotraces the glyphs into vector characters; and exports them into a TrueType, OpenType or Type 1 font where they can be edited by a font editor. ScanFont is a plugin for Fontlab's series of font editors - TypeTool, FontLab Studio, and AsiaFont Studio. Version 5 supports grayscale and color, adds direct import of EPS graphics , exports .VFB format fonts, features transformations and filters from Pencil to Gaussian blur.
