You can also include more than 230 ready-to-use animated effects including explode, vortex, 3D spin, and wave. You can create your own effects or make an interactive movie by adding actions to objects. A scripting language allows you to program sophisticated operations into your animations. You can preview your animation inside SWiSHmax without launching a browser or external player, and live editing lets you make changes while the animation is playing. SWiSHmax creates all the files you need to upload to your Web server, or you can generate the HTML code to paste into an existing Web page.

Version: SWiSHmax 1
"Best Flash Animation Software!"
Pros: First off, it works on Windows ME! (Unlike that evil flash MX) The interface is full of icons but the learning curve is quite small, Everything/time/events are controlled by the timeline at the top of your scene, which is easy to edit and navigate, good for when you need to make sounds stop playing, or mke things appear at certain times etc. There are hundreds of effects and if you're stuck to make your first Flash or need help, it has brilliant tutorial sections, and once you get used to the whole process, you will be making flash in no time.
The online forums are really co-operative, if you ever need help go to these first. With this program you can do lots of things, create interactive Flash animations, presentations, interactive buttons, slideshows and loads loads more! This is a must for any keen Flash developer!
Cons: Some small RAM issues, but it shouldn't be a problem if you're not doing 200 things at once (My PC is Windows ME, Pentium II and only has 120mb of RAM)
And the learning curve, it might take a while for you to figure out what to do.

"SWiSHmax will end your frustrations in a Flash!"
Pros: If you've tried Flash! and found the learning curve too difficult, you've come to the right place. SWiSH Max is a powerful program that is easier to use for a fraction of the price of Brand X. Also, it works great with Win x64-Edition, which was a concern for me since Macromedia Flash 8 is not fully compatible. Try it, you'll love it!
Cons: If you've noticed people complaining about the tutorials, don't worry too much. There are some minor inconsistencies (e.g. the tutorial is telling me to double-click to pull up properties when it should say to right-click) but they are few and far between.

"feature-filled but painfully slow"
Pros: Feature-wise, this software would be a good replacement for those who don't want to learn\buy Flash MX. Also, my "cons" below may only be an isolated case.
Cons: Runs painfully slow on my 2.0GHz CPU with 512MB RAM (which runs Flash MX perfectly). Simple tasks such as "open", "undo", or adding a picture takes a long time (or worst, crashes the software). Maybe I installed it wrong?

Pros: I'm a software engineer primarily. I've got to say that I've NEVER used a piece of software this good. I learned to use Flash MX, but when I moved companies I didn't want to blow my IT budget on another copy. When I found SWiSH, I started using it to build my company's website and most of the hazy bits of Flash MX suddenly made sense! SWiSH makes the whole process seamless. I bow to its developers.
Cons: As a developer, the scripting language makes me want to scream. I have to try to forget most of what I know about Object Orientated Design! Thing is, this isn't a 'developer tool' - it's the best interactive authoring tool I've ever seen.
