From GameSpy Industries: Roger Wilco is a small, standalone application that allows you and your friends to talk to each other while playing multiplayer games online. Command your team of mechs, or taunt your enemies as you hunt them down. Warn other players of potential hazards or trick them into a dragon's lair. The program works with most existing games, such as Half-Life, Quake III, Diablo II, Tribes 2, Unreal Tournament, StarCraft, and just about any other online multiplayer game. In addition to games, Roger Wilco will work with ICQ so you can chat verbally with your nongaming friends. You talk to the other players by either pressing a single key or by setting up Roger Wilco to be voice-activated. You don't need a second sound card, just one capable of full-duplex audio, and a microphone.

Talking trash has been taken to a whole new level with Roger Wilco. Although it's geared toward online gaming, the software actually offers some of the easiest IP-based voice communication around. The no-nonsense interface makes connecting with others a cinch. Simply create a channel and invite one or several of your friends to sign in. You can then speak freely using a hot key or by simple voice recognition. Users with older machines or slower connections might be less enamored of the system. To get good voice quality, the software requires a lot of bandwidth, a full-duplex sound card, and a fair amount of processor power. Heavy-duty hardware is all the more mandatory if you're running a processor-grubbing game at the same time.
