Dark Messiah of Might and Magic single-player demo
Demo too short, game too linear
by: Bruski

Pros: I like the interactive aspect of the role play. Being able to use the environment adds to the fun and "realism". Of course graphics are outstanding, and almost too much for my crappy celeron.
Cons: Demo is too short. Come on guys, for such a production, let us play for more than 30 frickin minutes! And really, who wants to play the short demo over and over, "trying out new configurations" as is suggested? I've already uninstalled it, to make better use of that disk space. As cool as it looks to be, I don't think this demo gave me enough to want to spend $50 (or more?) on the full version. Oh, and lastly, will the full version be linear? Personally, I won't waste time on this type of game anymore if it's linear.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic single-player demo
A promising sign for the full game
by: Nebular_uk

Pros: Interesting new additions to a an old formula. The makers of Dark Messiah have certanly played Severance balde of darkness, and in DM they have taken its core concept addicitve cobat based gameplay with roleplay elements and improved on it in everyway . Combat feels satifying and interaction with the enviroments actually works and is fun unlike Oblivion which has a few traps scattered about occasionally and often prove useless, in DM atleast in the demo it is pherhaps the best aspect of the game.
Potentially the full game could break the mould and add realism or atleast a entertaining movie sort of exploding car realism to games. Alternatly it could lead to immense frustration as yet another enemy stands convinantly close to an edge/fire/under chandalier to be kicked off/ into/ or squashed etc etc.
Cons: The sound cut out on me, and at 1.4 gig for half an hour at mosts play you feel disappointed. Considering this is just the tutorial and 1st level the full game will be over a zillion teraaflops (or hyperbole exagerated number of you choice). And pherhaps signals ubisofts mission to end piracy by making games so large only your granchildren will be around to enjoy the completed download.
Although not neccesarily a bad thing it seems as if the game is going to be a linear mission based affair rather than the massive immersive sandbox experience i had hoped for. Certanly from the tiny slice i have been able to play it seems like this game is going to be a classic and raise the bar for future games, but probably not revolutionise.
Inconclusion (IF YOU DONT LIKE READING JUST READ THIS) the plot and game certanly have a heavy dosage of beard but good beard, new innovativy beard with physics intergrated into game play and shiny graphics.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic single-player demo
First Person Action+RPG+Valve Technology(Source)=An intresting Project.
by: Alexey Orlov
on 08-Sep-2006 05:21:29 AM
Pros: The game is running the Source Engine by Valve.Good Graphics.'Kick'-is an useful attack,it makes the game more intresting. You can do realy funny things with your rugdool enemies, for example to throw a crate in one of them ;).
Cons: You'll need high system requirements to run the game without stopping.Unbalanced statistics between wizard, assasin and the warrior. Not enough spells:only flame arrow, firetrap and a freeze spell.Very short demo.
