RegAssassin is a portable utility that can remove stubborn registry keys by resetting the key's permissions and then deleting it. Simply download RegAssassin and run RegASSASSIN.exe. Next, enter a registry key and choose the options you would like. Finally select delete to execute the options. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

It requires care when using, but this freeware executable eliminates unwanted Registry keys. RegAssassin business-like interface sports only a text entry box, a pair of check boxes, and a function button. Using it requires experience editing the Registry. The program does display warning messages, but inexperienced users could easily crash their system by deleting an important Registry key.

Operating RegAssassin is simple and quick. Users merely enter a Registry key name and delete the key with a single button click. The application includes simple check box-enabled options to reset the key permissions and delete all subkeys. The utility recommends using RegEdit to correctly get Key Names. The total time from finding a problem key to deletion is less than 10 seconds.

This isn't a tool for novices. Even experienced should stay on their toes when operating RegAssassin. The app has no undo or Registry backup functions. However, advanced users looking for a simple Registry Key killer executable for their USB toolbox will want this freeware utility.

  I agree does not delete "Protected Keys" of Magic Jack!

  Pros: Simple program

  Cons: I tried to reinstall "magic Jack" which went haywire on Windows Web Server 2008 after 2 days of trouble free operation. Too bad Magic Jack has no support only webnewbies.

  Magic Jack does not allow read or write (even admin)to top secret protected Registry keys which must be deleted locally from your Server. A fatal flaw design which I like to fix....

  These keys stay like AIDS/Herpes on your computer.Any real reg editor out there that can delete protected keys? So far no go. ccleaner.com/revo uninstaller also fail.

  Pros: I like its claims and intent. It is no worse than any other program I have found. If it were written for Linux, it might actually work.
