Though the demo is a bit buggy, this video converter is simple, effective, and flexible. RER Video Converter's interface is logically constructed, with a list of files to convert, a view pane, and simple conversion selection buttons. In fact, novices will convert videos seconds after loading this application. Converting to Windows Media (WMV) offered 18 formats, but the program succinctly explained each option.
Our testers had some odd results. Converting a WMV file to an MPEG1 file resulted in a dropped-pixel mess. We also experienced occasional program freezes, as the file would hang at 99-percent converted. Though the demo is limited to converting only 50 percent of the video, we found it sometimes converted the entire file.
Bugs aside, RER Video Converter is a simple video conversion tool that works and includes enough formats to entice Web masters to use it daily.
