  I downloaded this software a few months ago and to my surprise got my identity stolen. I usually leave my computer on and turn the monitor off. After installing this software I left my computer for a few hours and came back. When I turned my screen on to my horror I could see someone controlling my muse remotely and looking into my personal files. I quickly unplugged the system and found out my paypal account, and credit card information was stolen and used to buy thousands of dollars goods. This was the only software I had installed for months and I am pretty sure there is spyware included in this software. STAY AWAY FROM POWERISO!

  Poweriso is full of adware total scammers! I had my identity stolen thanks to poweriso! Download.com needs to do a better job of making sure the software they offer is spyware free. I had contracted viruses several times from software downloaded here.

• Seems people don't know how to read basic instructions

  Summary

  As of the date of writing of this review, version 6.5, uploaded on Feb 12, there was no junkware nor malware installed with the program. It seems that some people have issues following basic onscreen instructions. The install program does give you an option to not install the 2 junkwares that you're presented with, and the options do work; I unchecked them, and could find no trace of any additional programs other than PowerISO installed on my system afterwards (I checked both AppData, ProgramData, Program Files, and Windows, and also my other secondary storage drives). Kaspersky was also running during this, and detected nothing out of the ordinary. The same was true when I installed this program a year or two ago, at version 5.3. And for those complaining of the 300MB restriction on the free version: Are you kidding me? I don't see how that is a valid complaint against the program seeing as how you haven't payed for it? Anyways, solid program all around and I highly recommend it, especially for people who are not so tech-savvy as it's UI is just phenemonal; you can easily tell if an image is bootable or not (and it's rarely wrong), and you can edit the image very similarly to if you were editing a folder through Windows. There's also a handy Bootable USB drive creator, which is simple but gets the job done, especially for those who are not particularly tech-savvy.

• BEWARE! Bundled with malware!

  There are no pros to using this software unless you are a masochist or looking to have your identity stolen.

  While I had deselected the 3rd part software installs that came bundled with this program, a program called "Chromium" was installed along with Power ISO. Chromium shows up in the task manager as "chrome.exe" described as "Google Chrome", and looks identical to Google Chrome with the exception of a greyscale icon. I used the uninstaller, and surprise, it doesn't come off. It took some time in regedit to locate the fake "chrome.exe" and fully remove this from our computer. Who knows who developed "Chromium" or what it does with the passwords and credit card information you enter in its browser windows, but if it gets on your computer in such a shady manner and tries to masquerade as a legitimate program in such a shady manner, and doesn't uninstall in such a shady manner, then you have to assume that they're up to no good.

  Summary

  I don't normally post reviews on things, but it was so wrong of the developer of Power ISO to sneak this malware in with their software that I felt the need to warn others.

• Crapware Installer

  This program was good now its loded with crapware

  If you decide to install this be ready to hurdle the numerous crapware installers loaded into the setup file. There are better programs elsewhere. Personally I would stay away. Used to be a good program until they loaded all the crapware into it's installer.

  Label says "Free" but you only can convert 300mb!! Who the hell would only convert a 300mb DVD? A bunch of crap!!!!

  There is nothing good about the free version of this software

  First, this installed bloatware even after I selected customer installation and unchecked all the bloatware I saw. Worse, the free version is not capable of working with files greater than 300mb, it prompts you to buy the full version.

  THIS PROGRAM IS A CON ... DO NOT INSTALL THIS: it offers you two PUPs to begin with, which is ok, but even if you decline those it still goes ahead and installs malware that changes your search engine, new tab page, and homepage. It also makes it very difficult to change those back. the malware also doesn't come off when you uninstall this program

• Sneaks in 3rd party software

  PowerISO is a great program.

  Cons

  It comes bundled with some 3rd party software that you can NOT decline to install!!! I unchecked ALL the boxes in the advanced section to make sure that the 3rd party stuff didn't install and it still did. This is SUPER shady! The 3rd party stuff hijacks many Firefox (And probably all other web browser) functions: 1) Changes your home page 2) Changes your search page 3) Changes the page that shows up when you open a New Tab.

  Summary

  I sadly strongly suggest NOT installing this software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT is super super evil/shady etc when a company has this kind of business practices.
