  Notepad, but roughly a billion times more useful.

  Pros: It's still the basic, simple Notepad we all know, but while it looks almost the same - only one toolbar, nothing messy - it's packing loads of useful features.

  Some very helpful features for any sort of code:

  - Line count. Oh, and word-wrapped lines still count as one line.

  - Syntax highlighting

  - Featherweight - only 250kb.

  - Long line marker

  - Indentation markers

  - Line breaks/line ends, etc markers.

  I have VISTA and couldn't get the software to install.
