Volutive Free Invoicing & Inventory allows you to customize your invoice templates from top to bottom, print your invoices quickly, and e-mail copies of them in PDF or JPEG. You will also be able to send any report by e-mail in HTML or to control your points of sale with this invoicing system, useful for individuals as well as for small companies. Volutive includes items, customers, vendors, invoices, delivery notes, quotes, purchase orders, and receipts. Both sales tax names and the way they are worked out can be customized for non-US users (special attention to Canadian taxes).

Version 1.2.5 includes unspecified updates.

  "will not do bracket sales taxes in the USA"

  Pros: basic version is free! Version 2 (unlimited)

  will do most basic inventory / sales / Purchase orders /

  receipts. Simple to setup and has a lot of features

  Cons: Does not perform calculations on taxes correctly

  in USA in States with a tax "bracket" system

  Author seems unwilling to update the full program

  to take care of sales tax computation issues.

  Version: Volutive Free Invoicing & Inventory 1.2.5

  "Looks good however there is a large problem for UK sales (and formats)"

  Pros: I didnt review it all (and i did look at v2 business version), however it was fast (when clicking boxes the next page also had the box clicked), it seemed like it was very robust.

  Its not easy to set up as its very "design" and with flashy buttons but does look like it works well, it has some odd stuff like how it does certain things like payments for each invoice that need looking at, basics are it needs a front end thats alittle more graphics.

  I do like how the templates can be FULLY edited, this is nice, it has keywords you put into the template designer (like [debt] to show the outstanding balance on an invoice).

  The file structure is good and simple (1 folder for whole companies) which means backup is easy and restore seems just as easy, installed new version then create enterprise with same number (like 00001) then copy whole folder and its all working.

  Ive not fully played with the template designer fully however that does look good and i liked that but there is one huge problem and one that might be huge (see below) so thats 2 problems.

  Cons: First problem, the adresses, there are only 2 lines for the address theres one for the 1st line then another for city, state and zip, this is where the problems start. This software has the ability to have other delivery locations (nice idea) however they have the same format.

  You have a name (which will be a company name) then a contact.... In the UK the Area (state) and POSTCODE (ZIP) need to be on seperate lines, this is NOT POSSIBLE with this software.

  This said even if i moved i would still have them on seperate lines where ever i moved to on the planet, its good formatting.

  There are 3 "custom" fields for customer which as i pointed out to the designer could be used for CITY and STATE assuming the address ZIP field is used for the POSTCODE. The response for this was "its a work around but will look wierd".

  The second problem is the designer doesnt seem worried on taking recommendations from users, on asking the designer about the above address problem and just putting in 2 more fields for the address as in the UK you cant post something like that as it will be lost it was met with "yes i have been asked this from other UK people and its always the same response, sorry".

  That worries me as if theres something that needs to be changed it wont happen.

  This is such a shame so looks like i'll keep looking for a stock control and invoicing system.

  "Great for Free - I use it for Vendors, P.O.'s"

  Pros: Very simple to use and fast. I only use if for my Vendor/Client's, Inventory and Purchase orders. Saves all data in a simple DBF format.

  Cons: The character width for Names and contacts are too short.

  Summary: Great overall product for free. I would recommend it for anyone who only needs the basics, contact invformation, inventory items for puchases and purchase orders.
