Editor's review of Password Protection
This handy tool lets you securely store your user IDs and passwords in a secure database. Password Protection has a neat and uncomplicated interface that lets you arrange your passwords in user-specified categories. Information including address, username, and password is arranged in a simple table. Password Protection offers ample security measures such as password-protection for the program, masking the password under the password column, and automatically locking the interface when it's minimized or after a period of inactivity. You'll also find a handy password generator to create random, and more secure, passwords for your accounts. A search tool locates entries by description, user ID, or password. Password Protection can be used by any security-conscious user, and it's offered as freeware.

Password Protection
Not As Good As Other Free Password Programs

Pros: Advertised Blowfish 448 encryption.
VERY basic interface and features.
Software is free but you have to go to their website and register to get a free key.
Cons: It does the job, but its interface is not as easy or as clean as programs like Anypassword and Access Manager 2. Also this program lacks the extra fields and comments section that Anypassword and Access Manager 2 have.

Password Protection
Registration code nowhere to be found

Pros: At first I thought this program was great. It had a great way to keep track of IDs and passwords. I used a few times over the 30 day "trial-period". I never bothered to register while I was using it. I started putting passwords in there without writing them down anywhere. Then I opened it up a few days after the trial period and it locked all of the functions and told me to register. When I went to the Merkin Awards website, I found that domain name is no longer registed. I found the last cached page on the internet archive is from 2005. So I did what any Microsoft user would do, I set the clock backward a few days. When I opened the application again, everything was available again. So at least I got my passwords back.
Cons: Merkin Awards website no longer exists for users to register.
Owner needs to remove registration locks from software.
No technical support.

Pros: Easy Interface. But have been doing the same exact thing in MS Word.
Cons: Everytime I log in it says "incorrect username/password and I know it is not. Keep having to install new username/password. When trying to go to help online it takes you to the mfg. site with links to OTHER sites. No help.
